Xeomin in Korea: Comparing Botulinum Toxin Options
Quick answer: Xeomin (incobotulinumtoxinA, made by Merz) is a botulinum toxin type A often called a “naked” toxin because it is purified to remove complexing proteins. It relaxes muscles the same way as other type A toxins. AMRED has not published which toxin brands it stocks; at AMRED Clinic in Cheongdam, Seoul, the toxin type is chosen per area during See Through™ ultrasound planning and discussed at consultation.
- What Xeomin is: incobotulinumtoxinA, a botulinum toxin type A without complexing proteins
- How it works: temporarily relaxes injected muscles, like other type A toxins
- At AMRED: See Through™ Ultrasound Botox, with the toxin type chosen per area
- Brand availability: Confirmed at your consultation
- Planning: EVE V 3D analysis + 1:1 doctor consultation + ultrasound design
- Booking: English support via WhatsApp and email
What is Xeomin?
Xeomin is the brand name of incobotulinumtoxinA, a botulinum toxin type A produced by the German company Merz. It is used for the same cosmetic purposes as other toxins, including frown lines, crow's feet, forehead lines and muscle-related contouring.
What sets it apart is purification. Most toxin products contain the active neurotoxin surrounded by accessory “complexing” proteins. Xeomin removes them, leaving only the active 150 kDa molecule, which is why it is nicknamed a naked or pure toxin.
How does Xeomin compare with other botulinum toxins?
All type A toxins block the nerve signal that tells a muscle to contract. The differences lie in formulation, dosing and storage:
- Complexing proteins – Xeomin has none, while many other brands keep them. Some doctors prefer complex-free toxins for people treated frequently or at higher doses, because these proteins are thought to play a role in antibody formation, although the evidence is still debated.
- Units are not interchangeable – each brand has its own unit potency, so doses are planned for the specific product.
- Onset and duration – broadly similar across major brands; individual response matters more than the label.
- Storage – unopened Xeomin can be kept without refrigeration, whereas many toxins need cold storage.
Why technique matters as much as the brand
- Ultrasound shows muscle size and thickness, so units fit the muscle
- Selective relaxation keeps natural expression
- Mapping muscle layers helps minimize hollowing and compensatory effects
- Toxin type and injection points are decided per area, not by habit
- Asymmetric faces can be planned side by side
Who should read this guide?
- People who have heard of Xeomin and want to know if it suits them
- Regular Botox patients asking about complex-free toxins
- Anyone who felt a previous toxin wore off quickly
- Visitors to Seoul comparing products before booking
- People who care more about natural results than a particular label
Can you get Xeomin at AMRED in Seoul?
AMRED has not published a list of the toxin brands it stocks, so this page does not claim that Xeomin is available. What AMRED does publish is its technique, See Through™ Botox, in which product choice is part of the design rather than an afterthought. AMRED's own guidance on domestic and imported toxins notes that effect and duration can vary by manufacturer.
- Photo Design – EVE V measures facial length, width, volume depth and contours
- Custom Design – a 1:1 doctor consultation builds the plan from that 3D data
- Ultrasound Design – muscle location and thickness are scanned to decide toxin type and injection points
If you prefer a particular brand, for example a complex-free toxin, raise it at consultation and the doctor will explain what is available and whether it fits your plan.
How is a toxin chosen at your AMRED consultation?
- History – share past brands, doses, how long results lasted and any weaker response.
- 3D analysis – EVE V records proportions and asymmetry.
- Consultation – a 1:1 doctor review sets goals and target areas.
- Ultrasound – muscle thickness and depth are measured in each area.
- Recommendation – the doctor proposes a toxin type and unit plan and confirms availability before treatment.
What is aftercare like after a botulinum toxin injection?
Aftercare is essentially the same whichever brand is used, and most people return to their plans straight away. Typical advice:
- Do not rub or massage the injected areas on the day
- Postpone saunas, heavy workouts and facial massage for a short period
- Allow several days for the effect to appear and around two weeks for it to settle
- Keep a note of the product and units used to help future planning
Your AMRED doctor will give advice specific to your treatment.
Xeomin & Botulinum Toxin Options FAQ
Is Xeomin better than Botox?
Neither is universally better. Both are type A toxins that relax muscles the same way; Xeomin differs mainly in having no complexing proteins. Dose and placement usually influence your result more than the brand.
What does “naked” toxin mean?
It describes a toxin purified to contain only the active neurotoxin, without the accessory proteins found in many other products. Xeomin is the best-known example.
Can I request Xeomin at AMRED?
AMRED has not published its toxin brand list, so availability is confirmed at consultation. Share your preference and history, and the doctor will explain the options.
Why did my last toxin treatment wear off quickly?
Duration depends on dose, muscle strength, the area and the product. Occasionally people develop a reduced response; a doctor can review your history and adjust the plan.
Do toxin units transfer between brands?
Not directly. Each brand measures potency differently, so units are planned for the specific product used.
Can foreigners book a toxin consultation at AMRED in English?
Yes. International patients can contact AMRED by WhatsApp (+82 10-2002-3118) or at amredworld@gmail.com, with English support for consultation, booking and aftercare.
